Collegiate Shag Mix & Match

In the preliminary round, competitors are given three songs and will rotate to a new partner for each song. Those who make it through to the final round will be randomly matched and will dance to DJ’d music. Aerials are not allowed during the Mix & Match, but dips and floor tricks are permitted. Mix and match tempos will range from 180-220 BPM

Competitors who compete as both a lead and follow will be able to dance both roles in separate heats depending on total number of competition signups. If you make it through to finals in both roles, you will be asked to choose one or the other. This is to ensure a fair and excellent experience for all competitors!

Collegiate Shag Strictly

Competitors will dance with their selected partner for the duration of the contest. During prelims, competitors will dance to three songs (number of heats will depend on total competition sign ups). Strictly finals will have two rounds: a mid-tempo and fast round. Specific format may change depending on number of competitors, but will likely go like this: mid-tempo round will be individual spotlights danced to recorded music (about 1-1.5 minutes; 200-210 bpm). The fast round will be dual spotlights danced to live music (230-240 bpm).
